Llangollen

Llangollen must be one of my favourite places to visit.  Llangollen nestles within the beautiful Dee Valley in the North East of Wales. It is a town of varied parts, with plenty to interest the most discerning of visitors. It is also host to many different international events each year, the most famous being the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. Llangollen is where the world comes to Wales and Wales welcomes the world.

The Llangollen  railway line's history pre-closure is fairly standard for a branch line; it opened in the 1860s, expanding rapidly thereafter to its full length. The 1960s saw the Beeching cuts, the final services finishing on 1st April 1968. The revival in 1972, just four years after final closure, when a group of enthusiasts got together with the idea of preserving a standard gauge
