Llangollen
must be one of my favourite places to visit. Llangollen
nestles within the beautiful Dee Valley in the North East of Wales.
It is a town of varied parts, with plenty to interest the most
discerning of visitors. It is also host to many different
international events each year, the most famous being the Llangollen
International Musical Eisteddfod. Llangollen is where the world
comes to Wales and Wales welcomes the world.
  
The Llangollen railway line's history pre-closure is fairly
standard for a branch line; it opened in the 1860s, expanding
rapidly thereafter to its full length. The 1960s saw the Beeching
cuts, the final services finishing on 1st April 1968. The revival in
1972, just four years after final closure, when a group of
enthusiasts got together with the idea of preserving a standard
gauge
