Hiking

In England and Wales, there is no legal right to camp, strictly speaking, permission should be sought when ever possible. In high mountain areas, and in most other hill land, camping is generally accepted above the intake walls, providing it is for a limited time and its out of sight of houses or farms.

In the Peak District, camping is discouraged in some areas and banned completely if the moors are very dry. The best areas in England and Wales are probably the Lake District and Snowdonia and you're likely to meet several other campers.

Wales is the best I think, and you can usually get permission from a farmer to camp on his land, he may even have a camp site.

In Scotland, the current access legislation is explicit about people's right to camp wild on hill land usually more than 100 metres away from a public road.
Athlete’s Foot
Just about anybody can catch Athlete’s Foot and it is not as the name suggests limited to the athletic ones amongst us. When you consider that Athlete's Foot is caused by a fungus that thrives in warm and moist conditions, it's not surprising that the average walking or hiking boot is a splendid incubator.
