Hedge Rows, ladybirds

Ladybirds belong to the scientific family Coccinellidae. In Britain, some 46 species belong to this family, although only 26 of these are recognisably ladybirds.

As winter approaches, households around the UK will be invaded by a sticky and foul-smelling invader.

Harlequin ladybirds first arrived in Britain from Asia in the summer of 2004 and quickly spread across England and into Wales.

These insects are likely to be wanted in gardens and by farmers as they keep gardens and agricultural crops free from greenfly.
