Andersen's Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Andersen

Andersen, Hans Christian, 1805-1875, Andersen's Fairy Tales.  Hans Christian Andersen, April 2, 1805 – August 4, 1875) was a Danish author and poet most famous for his fairy tales.

Most English sources use the name "Hans Christian Andersen", but in Denmark and the rest of Scandinavia he is usually referred to as merely "H. C. Andersen".

His name "Hans Christian" is a traditional Danish name. This year the Danes celebrate the 200th anniversary of the writer's birth,

Andersen’s tale “Danish Popular Legends” was first published in The Riverside Magazine for Young People, Vol. IV, pp. 470-474, New York, October 1870. It has never been published in Denmark.
